Within Azure Data, the databases team builds and maintains Microsoft's operational Database systems. We store and manage data in a structured way to enable multitude of applications across various industries. We are on a journey to enable developer friendly, mission-critical, AI enabled operational Databases across relational, non-relational and OSS offerings. The Azure PostgreSQL databases team is hiring Principal Software Engineer to be part of PostgreSQL Engine team. We are looking for a hands-on engineer with experience in database internals, have experience in building distributed database systems at cloud scale. PostgreSQL internals and Linux experience is preferred for this role. The group fosters a diverse and inclusive work culture that always prioritizes people. ResponsibilitiesArchitect, design and implement code changes in core PostgreSQL engine. Oversee areas of architecture, build and productize V0.01 projects. Build frameworks, analyze and fix performance bottlenecks found at cloud scale. Build prototypes to evaluate design and architectural options. Provide guidance and technical mentoring to engineers in the team. Maintain operations of live service on a rotational, on-call basis when issues arise. Embody our culture and values
