Overview

Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for Professional Support Interns. This position could be based in any of our U.S. offices (Austin; Chicago; Boston; Houston; Los Angeles; New York; Menlo Park; Orange County; Portland; Sacramento; San Francisco; Santa Monica; Seattle; Washington DC; or Wheeling, WV).

Are you a currently a college Senior or recent grad seeking a 2024 summer internship with a premier global law firm? If you are interested in learning new skills, participating in interesting projects, and seeking an opportunity to gain insight into Big Law working alongside smart, savvy forward-thinkers, this summer program could be the perfect fit. Our 10-week paid internship program will provide you with the opportunity to gain law firm experience and build your network by working with some of the best lawyers and staff in the legal profession. The program provides students who have demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, and community involvement with the opportunity to see, experience, and benefit from working with talented legal and business colleagues. At the conclusion of the 10-week summer internship program, there may be opportunities to transition into a full-time position dependent on business needs.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be working with our professional support departments such as Finance, Innovation, Lawyer Development, Marketing, Research, etc.

    After completing a full week of training, you will begin working directly with your teams on projects and assignments that are used every day by our attorneys and leadership to make Orrick successful.
  • You will participate in organized events and work with an assigned attorney mentor during feedback and shadowing sessions.
  • You will look for ways to streamline processes and procedures, identify new and expanded uses for existing technologies and contribute to our environment of innovation.
  • You will have the opportunity to grow your network throughout the firm by attending team meetings and having regular 1:1 conversations with your attorney mentor who will answer questions, offer advice and be an ongoing resource to you, even after the internship ends.
  • Additional opportunities including optional training and social events will be available throughout your internship.

Qualifications
  • Must currently be enrolled in an accredited 4-year undergraduate program and a Senior or recent grad to apply
  • Must have a minimum 3.0 GPA to be considered
  • Possess an enthusiastic approach to client service, and strong organization/time management skills
  • Detail-oriented
  • Strong verbal and communications skills
  • Familiarity with the MS suite, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel
  • Flexibility working with various teams
  • Research and proofreading ability
  • Ability to take direction and multi-task
  • Ability to work in a flexible and collaborative environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Compensation and Benefits

The expected hourly rate for this position is $25/hour.

This is a short-term, temporary position. Our temporary team members are eligible for paid sick leave where required by location.
