Job Description

Position Summary:

The Thomson Division is a major contributor to the Segment, with approximately 1,500 global associates and $400M in revenue. There are 10 main sites located across the United States, Mexico, the Caribbean, & Europe.

The HR Generalist will be responsible for applying business knowledge, human resources practices and employee relations expertise. He or she will assist in providing a wide range of HR support and advice. The successful candidate will play a key role in the success of the plant by offering guidance on performance management, employee relations and HR best practices while facilitating a positive relationship between personnel and management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Partners with management to advice and counsel on personnel issues.

  • Provides facility supervision on employee relations matters including; investigations, resolving conflict, and communications in regards to employee questions, issues, or concerns.

  • Ensures regulatory compliance with ADA, FMLA, EEOC, etc. Stays current on recent federal, state and case law changes and monitors labor law updates for changes that affect HR.

  • Respond to general employee inquiries and issues and support the operation with day-to-day HR needs as they arise.

  • Partner with associates and managers to administer various policies and procedures. Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures with a focus on continuous improvement.

  • Prepares and maintains records and procedures for controlling personnel transactions and reporting personnel data. Maintains HRIS integrity.

  • Partner with managers to actively improve associate engagement, including maintaining and coordinating various recognition programs and employee events.

  • Partner with managers to establish and provide training and development opportunities.

  • Workers Comp liaison for employee, management, and TPA to ensure effective claim management.

  • Coordinate temporary help needs, conduct new employee orientations, assist in recruiting for exempt and non-exempt roles to bring in the best talent available.

  • Responsible for internal company communication, including bulletin boards, company newsletter, etc.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of 3 years' broad, hands-on human resources experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related degree is required.

  • Fluency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint is required.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to exercise a high degree of professionalism in interactions with all levels of internal and external clients and work effectively with different cultures.

  • Manage multiple priorities and dynamic deadlines, flexible and positive in a fast-paced business environment, efficient time management and communication.

  • Continuous improvement mentality.

  • Minimum 3 years recruiting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills, proven influencing experience with managers.

  • Ability to analyze data, form plans and execute at the tactical level.

  • Detail oriented, able to establish priorities and manage deadlines.

Physical Demand and Work Environment:

Physical Demands - while performing the duties in this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, and sit.

Work Environment - the noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Expected Salary: $57,000 - $95,000 annually.Please note that compensation is based on a variety of factors when extending offer, including but not limited to, the role, responsibilities, candidate experience, education, qualifications, and business considerations.
