General Description:
A Project Engineer takes an increasingly responsible role in the technical aspect of projects and is responsible for performing technical duties for projects with varying degrees of complexity. Other duties and responsibilities include assisting a Project Manager or Senior Project Engineer with client contact, maintaining budgets and schedules, project coordination, project reviews, and technical proposals. As a prerequisite, meets all criteria of an Engineer.

Job Responsibilities:
* Prepares technical memoranda, reports, calculations, correspondences, designs, drawings, specifications, permit applications, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates on less complex projects or discrete tasks on more complex projects under the direct supervision of senior staff.
* Assists the Project Manager and other senior staff in complying with assigned project schedules and budgets on less complex projects or discrete tasks on more complex projects by actively reporting on project progress and by identifying additional work outside the contractual Scope of Work.
* Works with subconsultants under the direction of the Senior Project Engineer or Project Manager.
* May serve as Lead Designer on less complex projects or discrete tasks on more complex projects to produce a complete and coordinated project by meeting and effectively communicating with the project team.
* Reviews calculations, design assumptions, and concepts within discipline to assure quality control.
* Provides technical input into proposals on less complex projects, or discrete tasks on more complex projects by developing scope of work, budgets, and schedules by relying on historical information or experience.
* Assists in the preparation of technical presentations. Participates in client meetings and/or technical presentations.
* Works effectively and efficiently within established hourly budgets and monitors self-performance.
* Develops expertise in pertinent local, state, and federal regulations.
* Develops and maintains positive relationships with clients on technical issues by effectively communicating on a frequent and regular basis as directed by the Project Manager.
* Leads fieldwork such as surveying, GPS data collection, infrastructure inspections and assessment, water sampling, and construction observation.
* Assists with construction administration by tracking and reviewing submittals, preparing meeting agendas and minutes, reviewing, and compiling daily and weekly construction reports, and tracking construction schedules. Provides updates to a Senior Project Engineer and/or Project Manager.
* Develops and maintains positive working relationships with staff. Provides on-the-job training and mentoring for entry level engineers and interns.
* Demonstrates advanced skill and proficiency in MS Office, AutoCAD, ArcGIS, and other associated computer based technical software specific to the discipline.
* Develops increasing effective writing and presentation skills and can present data that supports technical decisions and the rational for making them.

Qualifications:
* Education and Experience:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering field and 4 years of experience of increasing responsibility is typically required, or a Master's Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering field with 3 years of relevant experience.
* Registrations: Engineer-in-Training (EIT), actively pursuing P.E. registration in a State(s) where EP does work or ability to obtain same by reciprocity.
* Interpersonal Skills: Ability to effectively communicate/interact within project teams and with clients; ability to direct activities of less experienced staff; demonstrate effective written and oral skills.
* Active member of a professional association. Driver's license required.
