Job Summary (includes but is not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned)
This position is responsible for driving a strong safety culture that eliminates risk for serious injuries at the Plant level through conversation and integration of safety into all aspects of operations, maintenance, and outage activities.
This position will provide strategic leadership in the designing of a wide variety of complex and technical safety solutions and will work closely with Plant leadership, and their employees, to build and implement a robust and sustainable safety performance. This position is a Safety Champion within our Operational Excellence model and builds the same within the Plant leadership and their teams.
This position will review, interpret, and advise management on complex safety compliance and policy matters. Has complete understanding of safety principles, concepts, practices, standards and regulations in addition to a background in industrial operations. Reviews applicable plant procedures and makes recommendations for updates according to laws, regulations, and good power plant practices and safety standards.
Collaborates with the Plant Managers and their teams to drive transformational safety improvement in behaviors, equipment condition, and work practices. Brings extensive plant and safety knowledge and experience to resolve complex safety issues and become a resource. Identifies risk items, and partners with plant leadership to eliminate the potential for serious injuries and fatalities (SIFs).
Shares knowledge in safety practices through effective communication while assisting in the identification of long-term solutions. Becomes familiar with assigned plant operations and work management processes for facilitate the administration of all risk assessment processes. Provides a direct safety resource to address the needs of the fleet.
